The Steps of Your Transition

Step 1: Buyer Contact

Contacting Commonwealth Transitions is the first step to purchasing your dental practice. Register as a buyer so that we can let you know as soon as one of our sellers has a dental practice available in your desired area.

At Commonwealth Transitions we value privacy, so we ask that you sign a non-disclosure agreement, which allows us to fully understand your intentions and desires as a buyer, and allows us to share relevant information with the sellers in order to make it happen.

Step 2: Password After Registration Received

Once the registration has been returned, you will receive an email with a unique password (please check your spam folder if you do not receive immediately or contact us at info@commonwealthtransitions.com) with your unique password you will have immediate 24/7 access to our full 17 page marketing brochures and financials including proformas for each practice you would like to inquire about. In addition you will have complete access to our buyer tools including practice pre-qualification and retirement planning calculators.

Step 3: Communicating With the Buyer

At Commonwealth Transitions, we believe relationships are the key to a good purchase. That’s why we ask that you keep an open line of communication with us throughout the process, so that we can continue to narrow down exactly what you are looking for. This allows us to find you the perfect practice. Even if you do not currently see a listing you are interested in we enjoy getting to know you so please contact and let us know what you are looking for so when the right opportunity arises for you we can contact you.

Step 4: Bank Pre-Qualification

Before meeting with a seller, Commonwealth Transitions makes sure every buyer has been pre-qualified with a bank. We have multiple partners in the Dental practice lending space which we can refer based upon your specific situation, so please don’t hesitate to inquire with us. Please note- this is not a formal bank approval, but a more informal process in which the bank states that they believe the buyer to be credit worthy. In addition, Feel free to access our free prequalification calculator in the buyers tools section to get an idea whether you should be approved before you contact one of our partner lenders.

Step 5: Tour of Location & Introduction

This is one of the most important steps in your transition. Here the buyer will discuss dental practice philosophies with the seller, while touring office together with them. This is vital, because we believe matching philosophies to be a key ingredient to every good deal.

If there is a match, then the buyer will present the seller with a Letter of Intent (LOI), indicating their interest in purchasing the practice along with a proposed closing date. Once the LOI is accepted, the buyer is now into the process of making the purchase, which will include:

  • Contract term agreement
  • Formal bank approval
  • All other steps to close the sale

Step 6: Closing & Transitioning

Since no two dental practice transitions are the same, your Transition Advisor will work closely with you to make recommendations and advise you based on your specific transition. This advisor will work with you not only on closing the deal to purchase the dental practice, but also help with the process of taking over the practice and building relationships with patients and staff.
